Distance Services extends the reach of the Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) to the state of New Mexico by providing access to and training in health information resources to healthcare professionals, public health workers, schools, libraries, community organizations with a health-related mission, and members of the public. Distance Services also offers support to faculty and students affiliated with the University of New Mexico who are involved in community health-related projects. The Native American Health Information Services (NAHIS), offers health resources and training to healthcare providers serving Native Americans, the Native American community at the University of New Mexico, and community members of the 22 Native nations in New Mexico.

Resource Development

  • Native Health Database — Contains historic and current citations and abstracts of health-related articles, reports, surveys, and other documents pertaining to the health and health care of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Canadian First Nations.
  • Outreach Connections: Native Health Information Wiki
  • Collection development — Distance Services will provide collection development assistance in the areas of health and medicine to organizations within New Mexico, including Native nations, on request.
