Biomedical Informatics

HSLIC offers one-on-one consultation for help with biomedical informatics issues related to:

  • Developing grant applications, including informatics components
  • Curriculum development
  • Designing databases in support of research/data collection, curation and dissemination
  • Activities ensuring patient privacy and security of data in a research database

You can schedule an appointment for a consultation within two to three weeks of your request.

What We Do

We offer one-hour consultations by appointment.

Why Do I Want It?

You can incorporate the use of biomedical informatics standards and principles into your work to:

  • Make your grant application more competitive.
  • Update curricula to include biomedical informatics topics related to the course.
  • Design databases that are optimized for future re-use and sharing (linking) of data for other databases that may derive added value from the data collected.
  • Comply with all federal, state and UNM regulations, including HIPAA.

Any UNM faculty, staff or trainee

How Do I Get It?

In a face-to-face meeting.

What Do I Need?

Please provide a clearly defined question or statement of the problem you would like consultation on (e.g., "How do I code/structure the data in my database to meet HIPAA requirements?")

How Much Does It Cost?

The consultation is free. Extended work may require special arrangements.
